Reference Services

The library reference staff is here to help answer your questions. Come in to the library, phone (765-743-2261), or send us an email.

We have a large collection of reference materials, including extensive consumer and investment information. We'll help with computer resources and locating difficult-to-find materials. We'll gladly show you how to search the Internet for the answers you need. You can use these links we have found helpful.

If the items you need are not available in our collection, the collections of Tippecanoe County Public Library or the Purdue University Library System, you can use our Interlibrary Loan Service to obtain materials from other libraries.

Children's Room

Visit the Kid's Home Page.

The Children's Collection offers a variety of materials and programming to meet the needs of young library users and their parents. There are books for all reading levels including easy readers, picture books, fiction and non-fiction.

We have an extensive collection of Reading Counts books. Reading Counts is a nation-wide reading incentive program that is used at Happy Hollow School, West Lafayette's grades 4-6 school. Happy Hollow can now quiz over 45,000 titles.  To find a complete listing of available quizzes go to Scholastic. From there you may search for books by title, author or keyword.  Click on the title to get more information about the book, including its Lexile and point value.

We also have a complete collection of Young Hoosier titles, dating back to 2000.

We're happy to help you find just the right book for your school report. Or come see all the great books we have to help you with your science project!

Lapsit for parents or other caregivers, babies & toddlers who are too young to sit quietly for the regular story time. The lapsits are offered each Monday at 10:30 am and repeated at 11:30 am in the Children's Program Room. This program is led by volunteer Amanda Barche Lindberg. It is a good opportunity for families to make new friends and have fun at the Library.

Story time is held each Tuesday at 10:30 am, Thursday at 3:30 pm, and Friday at 10:30 am in the Children's Program Room. Come let Miss Linda read you a story and help you create a craft or sing a few songs. Caregivers are expected to attend with the child. Programs are designed for 2 to 5 year olds. Other special programs are held throughout the year.

The Children's Program Room is now available for Meetings and Private Parties.
