WALLA & Friends Film Series - Monday, September 13th - 6:45 p.m.

In MINE (2009), filmmaker Geralyn Pezanoski tells the stories of the pets and pet-owners affected by Hurricane Katrina. When the order came to evacuate the city of New Orleans people often had no choice but to leave their animals behind. Although scores of these animals were rescued by volunteers, the sheer number of pets in need meant that many were sent to shelters across the country in order to relieve the strain on those in the Gulf Coast area. Years later, confusion still reigns supreme as pet-owners continue to search for these lost members of their families--some of whom have been legally adopted by their temporary guardians in the interim. Pezanoski’s documentary is an intense and moving film which asks many hard questions and finds few easy answers.

WALLA will present MINE at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, September 13th at the West Lafayette Public Library.

Automated Phone Calls for Holds Started Monday July 26, 2010

On Monday July 26th the Evergreen Library Information System started calling people who had items arrive for them on the hold shelf of their local Evergreen Library. Everyone's "Default Hold Notification Method" was changed to Phone and Email notices in their online account when this new service was activated today.

If you would rather only receive email notices or only receive phone notices for holds, you can easily change your preferences.  Here is how to do it:

  • Login to your Evergreen account,
  • select the Account Preferences tab, and
  • change the setting after "Default Hold Notification Method."

You also have the option, when placing each hold, of checking the method you prefer for notifying you of that hold or unchecking the method you do not wish to be used for notifying you of that hold.

Call the information desk 765-743-2261 for help if needed.
