Thank you for your past and continuing support of the West Lafayette Public Library Foundation!

This year we are asking you for TWO kinds of contributions: help with the Foundation's annual fund raising campaign AND help the Foundation chart new ways to support the West Lafayette Public Library.

Charting new directions: What is the Library Foundation working toward now? As we mentioned in our last letter, our Library Foundation Board has set a new, ambitious goal: to reach an endowment of $1 million in the next five years. We're over 1/3 of the way there! Why $1 million?

• Statewide tax changes are seriously reducing the Library's primary source of revenue.
• The interest from a $1 million endowment will allow the Library Foundation to more than double its 2006 support for expanding the Library's collections used by you, your family, and friends. (The Foundation has donated over $30,000 to the Library since 2006!)

What kinds of ideas does the Library Foundation Board need from you? The Foundation Board is asking for your help in setting priorities for our Public Library, such as:

• Important collections and library services that the Library should develop in coming years;
• Groups in our growing community who can benefit from increased Library services;
• New resources that the Foundation Board might tap into; and,
• Other concerned and caring individuals with whom the Board should engage in this conversation.

Make a Financial "Statement": Our Annual Request for Donations!

• Help us meet our 2007 fund raising goal of $35,000 in new donations with your financial contribution. Please make your checks out to the West Lafayette Library Foundation.
• Donate underperforming stocks or bonds-and earn tax credit, as allowed under IRS 501(c)(3).
• Remember the West Lafayette Library Foundation in your will or other post-retirement planned giving.

Your generous financial support has helped our West Lafayette Public Library in the past; your help in this planning conversation will move the Library into the future. The Library Foundation already has raised over $10,000 toward our fund raising goal of $35,000 in NEW income for 2007. Let's push us over the top for '07!
