West Lafayette Public Library Presents: Computer Application Classes

The West Lafayette Public Library is offering 5 different classes on specific computer applications. The classes will start Tuesday, November 3, 2009. All classes will be on Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Contact the library at 765-743-2261 to register.

In order to continue offering computer classes to our patrons the library is now charging a small fee. Thank you for your understanding. Cost for this series is $12.50 payable at the first class.

• changing the appearance of text
• setting and using tabs for tables
• adding graphics
• November 17, 2009 Beginning Excel
• entering numbers and formulas
• addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with formulas
• adding up columns
• using other easy functions
• formatting your spreadsheets
• November 24, 2009 Intermediate Word
• creating lists
• creating form letters
• creating labels
• saving documents in various formats
• December 1, 2009 Intermediate Excel
• use as an address book
• referencing other spreadsheets
• creating tables
• creating charts
• December 8, 2009 Introduction to PowerPoint
• creating a basic PowerPoint presentation
• using a design template
• adding pictures and other objects to slides
• apply formatting to text slides
• packing a presentation to take to another computer

These hands-on classes are designed for individuals who know how to operate a computer, but wish to gain skill in these specific programs.

Instructor: Nancy Hartman

The instructor for the classes is Nancy Hartman. She has taught computer classes for more than 15 years to a wide variety of people. Formerly at the Brookston Prairie Township Public Library, she is now at the West Lafayette Public Library and eager to teach. The class will be taught in the library's meeting room on laptop computers.
